Good. Having a rule on the books that nobody followed is bad for business and allowed teams to blackmail players with threats of lost eligibility.

Isn't the NCAA about 15 major lawsuits just waiting to happen? They ban any number of activities that a non-NCAA athlete woudn't even vaguely consider wrong. Does anyone ban the first chair trumpeter in the Harvard Symphony from hiring a agent? Or selling their autograph? Or accepting gifts from random people? Or banning them from staying in the orchestra after X years (with kind of arbitrary exemptions for injuries and other stuff). Or banning them from playing paying gigs, even for $25 at a bar in town?

Thank god for this. Forcing kids to negotiate with MLB agents and lawyers unaided was absolutely ridiculous.
